Smoking Banned From California Apartment Buildings

MSNBC, Morning Joe has reported that the state of California has issued a ban on smoking inside all apartment buildings state-wide. You already know my view on smoking, so I’ll save current smokers that soap-box rhetoric, but having two parents who were directors for local American Cancer Society chapters, the obvious dangers were INGRAINED, in me, just one sliver that makes me who I am.

Second hand smoke is the major concern, in this legislation. Protecting other apartment dwellers who have no defense from smoke lingering into their apartment unwanted and unwelcome.

Project YOY is just around the corner and we have already begun taking steps in that direction. How To Lead A Healthy Life

If you could become healthier in an instant, without the dread of having to give up all the temptations and desires that seemingly have prevented you from actively participating in healthy living, would you choose to be more healthy or less?

The most common stumbling blocks for people who want to be more healthy, yet have had difficulty making such a decision “stick” for the long term, often are misunderstood sticky points that carry much more weight than deserved. Despite common beliefs, becoming healthier does not mean giving up all the things you love, living without sinful flavors, being bored, or turning life’s routine into a chore.

You are one hundred percent capable of taking part in healthy living, and can pro-actively seek it, debunking the myths and giant hair-ball of misinformation that has plagued the internet, adding to droves of innocent, good intentioned individuals constantly seeking improvement and who want to feel better. You are in control and have been gifted with the one thing needed to achieve such a healthy, idealistic outcome. You possess it now.

That gift is the freedom to decide IF you want to be healthier or less healthy.

I’m afraid too many folks, often with the hidden agenda of lining their pockets with your misdirection, have convinced and conditioned you that to become healthy is a complicated task. The fact is it’s not. If you have the smidgen of will power it takes to answer just, one little question, a yes or no decision at that, you have what it takes to be healthier. You decide which you want. Choose to be healthier and I’ll give you the roads map how to get there.

The even better news is that this is not rocket science. Once you make the decision to feel better and be better, simple tweaks in your lifestyle is all it takes to get on the cumulative, self replicating path that continues to reward you the longer you stay on it. And the even better news is that it does get easier.

Specifically, the journey of 1000 miles begins with just one step. Thus, if you have to convince or motivate yourself to stick to it, one day at a time. Then do that. Before you know it, a week will have passed. Then two weeks. And then the magic occurs. At 21 days all those little tiny steps have transformed themselves into what your brain now defines as a habit, literally. You’ve broken through your brain’s resistance to change, and it now knows what you’ve been doing for the last 20 days is part of the “norm”. And from the point on, what you did those 20 previous days just got a whole lot easier, because you don’t have to convince your brain that that’s what you gotta do (it already knows).

Now, allow me to remove one of the mental obstacles for most wanting to live healthy, but unsure exactly how to get there. In other words, as crystal clearly as I can state this, just do this.

I’ve eliminated your need to think about how to do it anymore.

Simply apply small positive changes. Tiny steps in the right direction add up to big steps in the right direction. Remember, if you want to change the world, you don’t have to solve world hunger overnight – just one decision, one person can impact the entire world. Imagine, what YOU can do, just for yourself.

Decide now to improve just a little bit. Having a healthy life can be narrowed down to handful of key components. Focus on these foundational factors, and track your noticeable improvements. Adjust what doesn’t work and make it better.

Put Your Energy Into These Vital Ingredients If You Want To Successfully Lead A Healthy Life

Eat healthier.

Consume more living foods. Raw, natural fruits and vegetables. Notice I didn’t just say eat more fruits and vegetables – - that’s a cop-out. You’re only fooling yourself if you think eating say, peaches from a can, drowning in high fructose to retard spoiling and create a shelf life that can out-last a nuclear blast is getting a serving of fruit for the day. Serious individuals, who really want to be healthier, will recognize the obvious difference. Fresh, locally grown, produce from a farmer’s market often offers the most leverage on your money.

Weight management.

There’s nothing healthy about being fat. You know that. You sure as heck need not be a toothpick-inspired runway model, by any means, and you can be plus-sized and still be healthy. But, your body is a machine. The more efficient it runs, the longer it will go. Like a car, loaded down with too much junk in the trunk, climbing a hill in the slow lane, surging and wheezing as bicyclists pass it by, keeping your body running smoothly, will not only add longevity to all that you do, but you’ll be able to perform your tasks with greater ease. Ultimately, resulting in greater, measurable results for all your effort. More money. More success. More of everything you love.

Move more.

There are two things that make people cringe. One, is fingernails digging into a chalkboard; the other is just one word. Exercise. It’s like a “morning person” trying to convince a “night owl” to switch their schedule 180 degrees. You’re either one way or the other (slight generalization, but allow me a little latitude). You either hear the word exercise and get revved up, or you cringe.

The misunderstanding about exercise is that nobody is dictating that “working out” must be a chore, or considered work. But, movement is key. “Chair dancing” is not a legitimate form of exercise, I’m afraid, nor is watching cardio workouts on television, from your couch. Movement. Increasing your heart rate above what’s normal for you. Move more. The beauty of exercising is to pick an activity that is so FUN to you, that you forget all limiting definitions of that dreaded word.

Ballroom dancing. Running. Window Shopping. Hiking. Biking. Walking your neighborhood. Boxing. Gardening. Woodworking. Fixing up a house. Sledding with your kids. Chasing your dog around your living room. Move more, and often, everyday ideally.

Avoid toxins.

Seems an obvious point to even mention that poison might be bad for you. And yet, how many individuals cough, gag, and turn green when they try their first cigarette. Death is nature’s way of telling you to slow down. Though obvious, and your body’s best attempt to scream at you, not to do that again, smokers are everywhere, despite those obvious warnings and internal red flags. But toxins are not just found in products you smoke.

Toxins can be environmental, such as smog, or breathing contaminated air while you sit in traffic. It can be found in the food you eat: pesticides. Your microwave oven. Anabolic steroids. Industry related chemicals in your workplace. Fumes. The build-up of overly processed (junk) food in the walls of your intestines. Mad cow disease infested meat. On the surface, each of us might agree that toxins should be avoided logically, and yet exposure to them on a daily basis, completely contradicts that same human logic. Avoid toxins like you would avoid a punch square in the nose.

Prevention.

The cheapest health insurance known to man is prevention, but often completely overlooked. Do the right things to keep you healthy. Bullet-proof immune systems don’t get sick. There’s a “joke” that dates back generations before me, about a fellow who goes to his doctor, jiggles his arm violently in the air, and says: “Doctor, it hurts when I do this.” The diagnosis? Don’t do that. And so is true with the art of prevention. The odds are greatly stacked in your favor that you can completely avoid trouble in life (and of course this stretches beyond the topic of your health), by never putting yourself in a position that ensures your waist-deep in the middle of it. Avoid the things that will put you in harm’s way.

Again, makes perfect sense logically. And yet, throughout the world people die much too early, and cheat themselves of all the riches that they wholeheartedly deserve. Countries whose inhabitants find themselves wallowing in legitimate regret, wishing they would have done things differently. “Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda” woes and regret on one’s deathbed are much too common. Your actions, all them have consequences. They can be great consequences or disastrous ones. Prevention has a dramatic impact on the latter.

Manage Stress.

It took me literally about 26 years to fully understand what I am about to tell you. And I utter these words from a long ancestral line of proven “control freaks”, myself included. Quit worrying about things you cannot control. Stress and worry will eat you from the inside and the price you pay can be staggering. The fear of something happening is often imagined to be devastatingly worse than the reality of that fear. And yet, much of the panic your mind creates is overrated and can easily be controlled.

Treat yourself well.

Excessive indulgence can be unhealthy, but by no means does living healthy mean sacrificing all the things you love. Reward good behavior. Abusing the idea of self-indulgence, such as deciding (again, your choice – you are in control) that a reward might be having your favorite potato chips as a snack, but defining that snack as an entire, family-size bag of potato chips consumed in one sitting will ruin your previous healthy intentions.

Humor.

Keeping your sense of humor is key. It can literally perform miracles. People who have been sick and declared helpless and beyond hope by conventional doctors, prescribing “rest” while their patients wait for their allotted, best guessed, time to run out, have had complete recoveries, simply by adjusting their attitude. More than just positive mental attitude mumbo jumbo, scientific studies that have tracked sick people turning better, often have no medical explanation, despite the living, breathing, vibrant life standing before them as absolute proof. The missing ingredient was laughter.

Personally, I know somebody who was one of those “diagnosed to die” folks who was just lying in a hospital bed ticking time away – - but was supplied with “Candida Camera” videos just to make the time pass. Then, something strange happened. Nurses began remarking about the laughter bellowing from his room. And THEIR attitude shifted. And patients first complained, then began visiting to see what all the noise was about, and guess what THEIR outlook began to change for the better too. Final word: “He ain’t in no hospital bed anymore, Jack!”

Laughing and smiling seems too easy to be considered important. And that’s why many look right past humor, like racing to the middle of a book wanting to see where the little known, highly prized secrets are. It is a powerful influence on its own, capable of reversing terminally diagnosed disease. But, so few believe in its power, and opt for more difficult answers that one might spend an entire lifetime hoping to find. Smile. Laugh. Tickle yourself.

Embrace the choices you make today.

Remember each decision, including those in the moment seem insignificant, but has consequences. It is up to you to feel better, or feel worse. Have you come to a conclusion? Do you want to live and be healthy?

This list could be longer, but few have the fundamental, foundational healthy choices that living (and ultimately benefiting from) a healthy lifestyle demands. But, as you can see, YOU CAN DO THIS!

How To Navigate The Juicing Tips Website

Keeping my promise to both simplify this website, help this less technical subscribers who have had some troubles in the past, and providing a hands on resource for new subscribers to jump in head first when they first subscribe to the Juicing Tips Newsletter, I’ve created a video about how to navigate this juicing and natural health blog, as well as the home page, where you can refer friends if you’d think they’d like the newsletter and be able to improve themselves too, and everything in between.

If you’ve been a subscriber for awhile, you probably don’t really need to watch it, but I do discuss everything on this natural health site and how to get the most leverage of your time, knowing where to look for whatever you want to find.

Ambitious Goal for the Natural Health Blog Today

Today,

I’m going through every single post and updating it. Adding new information, health updates, juicing insights, etc., where I see fit.

It’s a huge task, frankly, but I want to make this natural health blog more user friendly, easier to navigate, and as hinted at in videos, posts and the JT newsletter, we’re raising the bar for 2009. So, this is just more work for me initially, but the investment, ultimately is FOR you. Better information at your fingertips, when you need it most. Easier to find, too.

The updates will include shooting new videos where necessary, that are more focused, and get to “the point” faster. It’s an ambitious undertaking, but doable, I believe. I’ll be glued to my computer much of today, and then of course, later in the evening and wee hours of the morning if you have any questions, feedback or need some guidance. Just hit the “reply” button in the newsletter, and your questions will come directly to me – like magic!

It just dawn on me, to create a category just for navigation and finding stuff on our site. I’ve added a corresponding category to the list at right, and will be updating it throughout the next 12 – 24 – 36 hours…

Heed the Warnings of My Recent Juicing Recipe: ASKITA

Hey everyone.

Hopefully now that the weekend is upon us, you’ve had a chance to read the latest issue of JT (short for the Juicing Tips and Natural Health Newsletter), and have already made the new juicing recipe made to put spring in your step and a kick in the pants.

But, please, DO pay attention to my warnings. I know.. I know… juicing recipes seem so innocent to so many, and because they are all natural, a LOT of people often dismiss how powerfully potent good health can be. So, again, DO NOT drink the ASKITA reecipe more than twice in a day. It’s too much! Beginners or intermediate experienced juicers have some additional options that can spice things up with the added endurance ingredients, but IF you are NEW do NOT add the advanced ingredients or substitute the advanced ingredients just for fun.

If your body is not ready for it, you can put yourself in a world of hurt! I’m serious; you don’t want to be one of the people who finds out about said reality AFTER experimenting. My juicing recipes are deliberately shared to address all experience levels. Pay attention and apply my instructions, when they are given.

Cool? Adding ASKITA into your juicing routine can do wonders, but don’t go overboard.

Juicing Recipe Declaration: First Healthy Gift Revealed

Good afternoon everyone – I have yet to actually GO TO bed, just took a 90 minute Power Nap. Feel like a new man again.

The recent survey I sent to subscribers revealed priceless information about what everybody wants, needs and how best to handle the delivery of my juicing recipes to best suit you. I’ve recently written some posts about the kind of information that has been collected from the majority, so I won’t go into that here, but instead am officially stating HOW Juicing Recipes will “officially” now be handled from this point on. So here is what you can expect from me. (There may be some slight tweaking of format, as additional feedback trickles in, but for the most part, this is what you’ve told me you want – majority rules).

AngelFood Ministries Menu January 2009

Hey everyone,

(Here’s the original 2 part video post I did introducing you to the AngelFood Ministry program if you want more information).

Here’s another video I shot after unpacking some of the groceries and produce from the food co-op (AngelFood Ministry) I recently told you about. This is only a portion of the food received, as it didn’t dawn on me to video tape the haul until after I had put much of the groceries away. The boxes of produce are were around $21.00 and two boxes were bought. Also, there should have and would have been more, but another family was short on their portion, thus it was decided that family should have it rather than to be included with this batch, since we already had an abundance.

Also, note, Toby makes an appearance in this video too (you’ll remember Toby is my dog and was in a couple natural dog food videos I did over the summer). I tried to get him to take interest in you, the subscribers and/or natural health blog audience, but, well you’ll see where his priorities rested.

Next month, February 2009 does have one pretty good, stand out bargain: 10-21 POUNDS of tangerines for $15.00. This is a short and sweet video – about 3 minutes I think. Again, I was pleased to see an emphasis on the nutritional benefits from the food included – obviously deliberately done. Enjoy.

I’ve told you both her on this natural health blog, plus within the for-your-eyes-only arena of the JT Newsletter, that 2009 both you and I are raising the stakes.

Your recent feedback has clued me into the specifics that you want help on. Also, those paying attention and playing the home game of this adventure, will remember that the week I wanted to begin rolling out these thinking bigger plans for the year, Big Joe (that’s ME) got slapped with a kidney stone that decided to rain on my party and kick me in the gut.

Wow! The Response Has Been Staggering

Seriously.

*Realization: I just tried to link out to the “previous” blog entry I made mid-morning this morning, while updating THIS entry to the natural health blog – - only to realize it has “magically” disappeared – - so I’ll update you on the information I thought you already had…I digress…

When people send out a survey, expectations, frankly are usually low. What is becoming a crystal clear message throughout this brand new day, is the obvious community that is abundantly before us. Our vision and direction can become clearer. Health priorities that are most important to YOU can be pushed to the forefront.

Soon enough, I’ll be sharing more specifics about the information you’ve told me about HOW you want Juicing Recipe information delivered (there are clear likes and dislikes that stand out like a sore thumb) and what components of each juice recipe are most important to you, when I do deliver that information (and how frequently).

One of the juicing recipe survey questions asked was about having recipes that “speak” to specific health ailments. And the overwhelming majority of you have stressed to me today, that it is important to you to have juicing recipes specific to health ailments, health problems, hurdles or difficulties that you are personally dealing with. Which of course, makes perfect sense, so the next step is to narrow down your top choices. I’ll compile the necessary info, make it short and sweet and ask YOU to decide the priority.

The results from this morning’s Juicing Recipes Survey are still trickling in, and experience with the JT Newsletter says that there will still be many responses here in the evening (I am in Ohio on EST) as people come home from work, settle into the evening and wind down.

  • I’ve been surprised (but SO pleased!) to find that literally about 99% of all who have participated in our Juicing Recipes Survey own or use a juicer. That might sound obvious, but how comforting it is to know that instead of simply reading of my experience, you can implement it and – take ACTION upon it!

Which means, that when you have shared health ailment specifics (all of which ARE and will REMAIN PRIVATE between you and I) the help I give you will be TAILORED to YOU. That means the health you seek are coming.

  • How refreshing it is to see “themes” that several of my Juicing Tips subscribers have voluntarily brought to my attention within their feedback, regarding things that confuse them about their health – - whether information that needs to be debunked, fear of making things worse, or finally just BECOMING ARMED with the right information and leaving the misinformation behind. Refreshing! – Because I am seeing red-flags that are surfacing in your lives, that TRIGGER to ME, the tools and resources I need to provide to BEST Help YOU.

  • The EVEN BETTER NEWS!? I already know I can FIX what ails many of you. Imagine that, facing this year eliminating what bothers you most…

Hint: Read the last sentence again. Then take a deep breath.

And when I encourage you to think Big-ger. As will be one of my mantras this year, take your idea of “Thinking Bigger” and DOUBLE it or TRIPLE it – that’s how I want you to have the courage to think from this point on.
