You may very well be looking at a glimpse of the future, minus the full-scale “Jetsons” roll-out often envisioned when looking so far ahead.

This assisted walking device from Honda, helps an individual lift their legs and power through each step, while also supporting the user’s weight.

The shoes, as pictured are part of the device and included. Testing continues in factories in Japan, with multiple uses, such as assisting with keeping one’s body in a fixed position over a period of time, thus relieving fatigue (not to mention employer liabilities and injured employees).

Walking devices on often in constant demand for the elderly, but also stroke victims. Certainly, not limited only to that, but online, that’s who is searching for the most solutions.

Honda sated in a news release: “Honda began research of a walking assist device in 1999 with the goal to provide more people with the joy of mobility. Honda developed the knowledge required to develop the walking assist device from its thorough study of human walking represented by the research and development of Honda’s advanced humanoid robot, ASIMO.”

You may have heard of ASIMO, as being the robot that can do a number of tasks, including successfully walking up and down stairs, completely on its own.
